Cyclones score 26 in doubleheader sweep

The Cyclones bats came out with a vengeance as they swept their doubleheader in their second day of spring training.

GAME ONE
Right from the start of this game with Rochester Community and Technical College, the Cyclones were in control. In their first at-bat, they scored nine runs and ultimately took a 12-0 lead going into the third inning before the Yellowjackets scored. The game only went five innings because the Cyclones were up 17-4 and won in slaughter rules.

Emma Hansen had a big game, going 2-for-4 at the plate with 4 RBIs. Brialynn Mica, Estelle Loth (1-for-3) and Madelynn Larmon (1-for-1) each had 2 RBIs while Marissa Walsh (1-for-1, 2B), Keira Clancy (1-for-1), Samaya Frausto and Anastazie Thoma each had one. Stephanie Lohman was the winning pitcher with four strikeouts.

GAME TWO
The Cyclones continued their dominance in their next game with the USC Sumter FireAnts, winning 9-2.

Mica (2-for-5, 3B, RBI) started the top of the first with a single before Hansen (1-for-4, RBI) walked. Brooklynn Sedlak (3-for-4) hit a grounder and reached on a fielding error which also scored Mica. Loth (2-for-5, 2 RBIs) then grounded into a fielder's choice that scored Hansen. With Walsh (2-for-5, 3B, RBI) up next, she tripled to score Loth. Clancy (1-for-4) grounded into a fielder's choice before Lohman (1-for-3) singled. With the last batter up, Clancy scored on a wild pitch to give the Cyclones a 4-0 lead.

In the next inning, the Cyclones added two more runs with an RBI single from Hansen, who later stole home to go up 6-0. The FireAnts finally scored in the bottom of the third only to see Moraine Valley tack on two more in their next at-bat. Loth hit an RBI double and later scored on a fielding error. It wasn't until the top of the seventh when the Cyclones added the final nail in the coffin. Annabelle Rush (1-for-3, 3B) crushed a triple to centerfield before Mica drove her home on a ground out.

Alexandra Wolcott was the winning pitcher, striking out two and allowing only two runs.
