Cyclones collect 38 hits in split

The Cyclones collected 38 hits and split with the big-hitting College of DuPage Chaparrals. Moraine Valley won 12-8 and lost 9-8.

GAME 1
There was plenty of back-and-forth in this game before the teams were tied at eight for two innings. Brianna Dvorak (3-for-3, 3 RBIs, 2B, HR) had a big game, scoring first on a two-run homerun. Additional hits came from Alexandria Palumbo (2-for-4, RBI, 2B), Kara Riordan (3-for-5, 2 RBIs, 2B), Emily Manso (2-for-4, 2 RBIs), Emily Madrigal (4-for-4, 3 RBIs) and Danielle Travis (2-for-5, 2B). In the top of the seventh, Dvorak doubled to score the go-ahead run before her teammates added three more insurance runs. Ashley Roberts earned the win on the rubber, striking out three.

GAME 2
The Cyclones put plenty of runs on the board early in this game – eight before the fifth inning. But the Chaparrals found a seventh inning surge and walk off double for the win.

Moraine Valley had 17 runs to the Chaparrals' 14 in this game. Dvorak (2-for-4, 3 RBIs, 2B) started off scoring again in the first inning with a one-run double on the first pitch. Abbie Wantroba (2-for-4, 3 RBIs, 3B), Manso (3-for-4, RBI, 2B) and Palumbo (3-for-4, RBI, 2B) each had additional RBIs in the fourth inning. However, the Chaparrals added two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings and four in the seventh. Emily Koprowski led things on the mound, striking out three.
