Koprowski and Koran come up big in sweep of Pioneers

The Cyclones added another conference victory to their record in a sweep of Prairie State College – 5-4 and 10-0.

GAME 1
The first game saw more heroics, this time from freshman Emily Koprowski. The Cyclones had taken a four-run lead by the third inning, but the Pioneers tied the score at four by the fifth. The score was knotted until the top of seventh when Koprowski crushed a solo homerun for the go-ahead run and victory.

Emily Madrigal, Danielle Travis, Alexandria Palumbo and Emily Manso each had two hits in this game. Ashley Roberts toed the rubber, giving up four runs and striking out three.

GAME 2
Abigail Koran shut down the Pioneers offense and was backed by a strong showing by the Cyclones at the plate. A big five-run third inning saw RBIs from Palumbo, Kara Riordan and Travis (3-for-4). The Cyclones collected 11 hits with multiples from Travis, Koprowski and Riordan. Koran struck out 11 batters and allowed just two hits.
