Big win and a tie for Cyclones

Big win and a tie for Cyclones

The Cyclones had an unusual split with South Suburban College. They pulled out a 12-8 victory after a big five-run third inning and tied the second game 1-1, which was called due to darkness.

GAME 1
This high-scoring first game saw the Cyclones add runs in all but one inning. Brianna Dvorak got her team on the board on a run scoring double. Their biggest scoring barrage was a five-run third that gave them a 7-3 lead. Abbie Wantroba doubled on the first pitch to score a run, Emily Koprowski knocked in a runner from a single, Danielle Travis hit a two-run single and Alexandria Palumbo drew a walk to score her teammate. The Bulldogs continued to claw back after that, adding five more runs in the fifth and sixth innings, but the Cyclones were already ahead by three and coasted to the victory.

It was a big RBI day for Travis (3-for-6, 2B, 3 RBIs) and Koprowski (4-for-5, 3 RBIs). Dvorak (4-for-6, 2B, RBI), Palumbo (1-for-2, 3B, 3 BB, RBI), Wantroba (1-for4, 2B, RBI) and Haley Garza (2-for-4, SB, RBI) also contributed in this 19-hit game. Koprowski was the winning pitcher, allowing 14 hits and eight runs while striking out two.

GAME 2
The offense on both teams was quiet in the night cap. Neither got on the board until the eighth inning when Kara Riordan scored Emily Manso in the top of the inning. However, the Bulldogs countered with a one-run double. Tied at one, the game was called in the top of the ninth due to darkness. Abigail Koran pitched this game, striking out eight.
