Coming up short

The Cyclones suffered two losses at the hands of the Kankakee Community College Cavaliers, one that saw one rough inning and the second that went into extra innings.

GAME 1
Without that first inning, the Cyclones were in this game with the Cavaliers. However, a nine-run hitting barrage hurt the Cyclones from the start. Arianna Andersen (2B), Danielle Travis, Brianna Dvorak (RBI), Emily Manso and Kara Riordan each had one hit in the 11-3 loss. Travis and Riordan also stole two bases each. Ashley Roberts took the loss on the mound, striking out one.

GAME 2
The Cyclone offense came alive in their second game, as they accumulated 13 hits to the Cavaliers' eight. They started scoring in the second inning when Andersen knocked in two runs on a double. The Cyclones held off the Cavaliers' offense until a homerun in the sixth to tie the game. In the top of the eighth, the Cyclones took a two-run lead, but the Cavaliers earned the go-ahead runs in the bottom of the inning to win 5-4. Abbie Wantroba went 3-for-4 this game while Riordan went 2-for-4, scoring twice. Abigail Koran was on the mound, striking out eight while scoring the other two runs at the plate.
