Cyclones fall to Trojans in season opener

Cyclones fall to Trojans in season opener

In the Cyclones' opening season doubleheader at Triton College, they were unable to match the offense of the Trojans.

The first game was a tough 12-4 loss despite an energetic start. Arianna Andersen singled in two runs in the first inning. The Trojans scored in a few innings, but it was really the fourth where they blew it open with six runs.

Alexandria Palumbo scored on her homerun while Andersen went 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs. Danielle Travis went 3-for-3 with a double. Ashley Roberts started on the mound with Emily Madrigal throwing in relief.

The second game saw the Cyclones fall 7-3 after opening up scoring in the first inning off a walk from Brianna Dvorak (2-for-3). However, the Trojans tied things up and pulled away in the third. Moraine Valley scored one in the second and third innings, but not enough to surpass the heavy hitting Trojans.

Dvorak, Palumbo and Emily Koprowski each had and RBI. Koprowski was on the rubber, allowing seven hits and seven runs over six innings.
