Split with Scots

Split with Scots

This matchup with McHenry County College was made all the more important because both teams are battling for a chance at the Skyway Conference championship. They ended up splitting the outing with the Cyclones winning 8-2 and losing 16-4.

Although the Cyclones fell behind early, they were able to catch up with a big five-run fifth inning with singles from Zoe Supanich and Danielle Travis plus a double from Alexandria Palumbo (1-for-3, RBI). Travis (4-for-4, 3 RBIs) had a big game with a single in the first, fourth and fifth along with a double in the third. Kara Riordan hit a sac fly to score one in the fourth. The Cyclones collected 13 hits in the win. Travis, Fran Beggs, Emily Gorski, Brianna Dvorak and Supanich each had multiple shots. Gorski was on the mound for seven innings, allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out three.

In the second game, the Cyclones fell behind early after giving up 11 runs to the Scots in the first inning. They were able to tally one run in the third and three in the fourth from Abbie Wantroba (1-for-2, RBI) and Supanich (2-for-2, HR, 3 RBIs), but it wasn't enough to alleviate the damage.

This also was the final home game of the season and celebration of sophomores Supanich (from left), Dvorak, Wantroba and Beggs.
