Hitting power returns in Chaparrals sweep

Hitting power returns in Chaparrals sweep

This is the Cyclone hitting machine we recognize. They racked up 22 hits over two games with College of DuPage, winning 12-8 and 10-2 in five innings.

In the first victory, the Cyclones collected 14 hits, multiples of which came from Danielle Travis (3-for-4), Fran Beggs, Lexi Udaykee, Emily Gorski and Kara Riordan. With the score tied in the bottom of the sixth, Beggs doubled in the go-ahead run. The Cyclones then added a few more runs that inning to put the lead out of reach for the Chaparrals. Udaykee and Brianna Dvorak each knocked one out of the park in this game.

The second game was over after five innings because of the slaughter rule. The Cyclones scored one in the first and three in the third, but a big five-run fourth inning helped the cause. Abbie Wantroba, Travis, Dvorak and Udaykee each had RBIs that inning. Zoe Supanich ended the outing with a walkoff homerun in the bottom of the fifth. Ashley Roberts was on the mound, allowing just two runs on five hits without giving up any walks.
