Coan and Amer seal the deal for Cyclones

When you thought it couldn't get any closer, it did as the Cyclones went head-to-head with rival McHenry County College. It all came down to the No. 2 doubles, which helped solidify the Cyclones' 5-4 victory.

Tied scores, super tie breakers and four hours of tennis all led to the pivotal matchup that gave the Cyclones their fourth straight win this season.

After all singles matches, the score was knotted at 3-3, two of which went into super tie breakers – Yianni Livieratos lost at No. 1 (6-4, 3-6, 5-10) and David Souza at No. 3 (3-6, 7-6, 10-4). Ali Amer at No. 2 (6-2, 6-1), James Coan at No. 4 (6-1, 6-0) and Edwin Esparza Hernandez at No. 6 (6-4, 6-4) won straight set matches in singles. Then the teams split No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, the latter being a win for Jakub Zolnik and Lucas Skowyra (6-3, 6-2). The match came down to No. 2 doubles, which ended in a game-deciding win for Coan and Amer (6-2, 6-3).
