Early deficit leads to big win

In their third straight victory, the Cyclones dominated Elgin Community College 118-91 at home. This was the fifth 100-plus scoring win for Moraine Valley.

For nearly the entire first half, the Cyclones trailed the Spartans but never by more than three points. It wasn't until the six-minute mark that Amarion Johnson tied the game at 35 and then Enari Thomas stole the ball, scored and was fouled. That gave the Cyclones a lead that grew from there. Thomas went on a scoring streak in the final five minutes, scoring 11 more points to give his team the 63-46 edge at halftime.

Moraine Valley continued to control the ball and force the Spartans to make errors while growing their own lead. By the end they had the 27-point advantage.

Thomas scored a game-high 36 points (eight assists) followed by Ahmad Jarad with 29. Javonte McKenzie contributed 18 points while Amarion Johnson (four blocks) and David Reyes each had 10. Davion Lawrence led under the basket with eight reounds.
