Second half surge helps Cyclones take down mighty Jaguars

The Cyclones earned a huge win over the always tough Danville Area Community College Jaguars at home. The surge in the final minutes of the game made all the difference.

It's been a few years since the Cyclones defeated the Jaguars, including their matchup last month. The game started out rough as the Cyclones struggled and were down 17 at halftime.

Once the second half started, Moraine Valley steadily scrapped their way back. With five minutes left in the game, the Cyclones were able to tie the score at 71 after holding back the Jaguars offense. The Jaguars battled back as well, but were forced into errors by the pressuring Cyclones. Davion Lawrence got his team ahead 82-80 with a layup in the final minute, and Javonte McKenzie added another point with a free throw to extend the lead. Nicco Reyes added another free throw to see the Cyclones go up 84-80 with 12 seconds on the clock. Although the Jaguars scored again, they fouled Lawrence, who added two more points for the 86-82 victory.

Lawrence ended the night with another double-double (14 points, 12 rebounds). Enari Thomas led with 36 points while Luis Acevedo added 18.
