Cyclones end skid

The Cyclones ended their skid but not without some excitement. They defeated Joliet Junior College 92-86 in overtime.

Playing without their point guard, the Cyclones had their work cut out for them. They were slow to score and battled with the Wolves the whole first half. Although the Cyclones led at halftime, it was only by one.

In the second half, the Cyclones could never pull away from the Wolves, who pressed in the final minutes to tie the game. After Javonte McKenzie sunk a three-pointer to get his team up 79-76, the Wolves countered with a three that made it at the buzzer to push the game into overtime.

Deven Jiles started the scoring in overtime but the Wolves battled back for a brief lead. Davion Lawrence tied the game again with two free throws and then stole the ball for McKenzie to score and retake the lead with two minutes on the clock. Joliet continued to match the Cyclones until the last minute when Moraine Valley was able to pull away for the win.

McKenzie finished with 21 points and five steals. Jiles added 20 points and eight rebounds. Lawrence earned a double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds) while Jayden Martin added 11 points.
