Cyclones run out of luck in semis

After a season full of close wins, the Cyclones (25-5) ran out of luck at the NJCAA Region IV semifinals. They lost 84-81 in a tough matchup with Olive-Harvey College (24-7).

The last time these two teams met in early November, the Cyclones lost another tight game by four. They knew they'd have their work cut out for them if they wanted to advance in the playoffs.

Throughout the first half, the Cyclones found their stride and rhythm with Anthony Taylor leading the way. They surged to a 10-point lead at halftime full of confidence. The second half saw the Panthers claw back and score more consistently while the Cyclones missed some opportunities at crucial times. Moraine Valley never quit in this game, but came up short at the end. Enari Thomas had some big baskets down the stretch, and Kobe Adams came up with key baskets in the second half, but it wasn't enough to stop the Panthers.

Thomas led the scoring with 24 points while Adams added 19. Taylor collected 14 points and seven rebounds.

With this loss, the Cyclones end their season with a 25-6 overall record after having won the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (13-1) championship last month.
