As the season gets closer to playoffs, the Cyclones (20-5) need every conference win to make it count. They came through with a quick lead and eventual 92-78 victory over McHenry County College (12-13) on Feb. 14.
With some solid defensive plays, the Cyclones were able to get ahead with easy baskets. However, the Scots got hot from the three-point line while the Cyclones got into foul trouble and the 15-point lead dwindled to five at the half.
The second half started the same with a cohesive team effort. The Cyclones built their lead to its highest at 23 with eight minutes left before settling in for the 14-point spread. This win helped keep the Cyclones atop the Skyway Conference standings with three more left in the season.
Enari Thomas had a big offensive night with 25 points. Trace Williams also put up big numbers with 21 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Anthony Taylor added 12 points and seven rebounds while Taijon Barry scored 11 and Javonte McKenzie had 10.
