The comeback kids

The comeback kids

Call them the comeback kids. The Cyclones (18-5) stopped the six-game win streak by Waubonsee Community College (17-6) after making a run in the second half for the 74-70 win.

At the start, the hot Chiefs scored early and often, leaving the Cyclones down 11-1. A brief run from Moraine Valley helped them tie things at 15. By halftime, the Chiefs still held the upper hand, and stunted the Cyclone offense, up 40-29.

So far this season, the Cyclones have played several matchups where they were down early but clamored back for wins. This resilient group worked together and gutted out the win yet again thanks to defensive pressure and a scoring tear – they had 45 points in the second half.

Enari Thomas led the offense with 17 points. Trace Williams (15 points, 12 rebounds) and Anthony Taylor (11 points, 14 rebounds) each had another double-double. Taijon Barry chipped in 13 points and led with five steals.
