The Cyclones (17-4) returned to their winning ways, coming back in the final minutes to defeat Elgin Community College (12-11) 86-82.
After a crushing loss on Tuesday, the Cyclones were looking to avenge themselves, but it took some time. Within the first few minutes, the score was tied, however, the Spartans continued sinking shots and kept the Cyclones stunted offensively throughout most of the game. It was another slow start with too many missed shots for the Cyclones, who trailed 38-32 at halftime.
Coming into the second half, Enari Thomas went on a scoring run countered by the Spartans. As Elgin missed more shots and the Cyclones sunk more, they crept closer to leveling the score. It wasn't until the final six minutes when Kobe Adams helped tie things up on a field goal before an Elgin turnover and Trace Williams gave the Cyclones their first lead of the game on a drive to the basket. The Spartans battled back but missed some key shots, and Adams was able to score 12 in those final minutes to keep his team up for the win.
Adams led with 27 points, scoring 23 of those in the second half. Thomas added 21 points. Anthony Taylor was consistent with a double-double (14 points, 13 rebounds, six assists), and Williams grabbed 13 boards.
