Big win on the road

Big win on the road

In the last four years, the Cyclones (16-3) hadn't defeated Morton College (8-19) on the road. Until tonight.

It was all perseverance and will for the Cyclones to earn this important road win. Throughout the game, the Cyclones were trailing the Panthers, including in the last eight minutes of the game when they were down by 10. At halftime, the Cyclones held a slim 34-33 lead, but the Panthers always fought back. Trailing in the final minutes, the Cyclones retook the lead with less than five to go. Taijon Barry had two big baskets to push his team ahead. In the final few seconds, the Panthers had the ball before Barry stole it off an inbounds play and passed it up to Javonte McKenzie for a layup to give them the edge and ultimate 66-62 win.

Anthony Taylor led with 13 points. Enari Thomas added 12 points and Luis Acevedo had 11, including three three-pointers. Barry and Trace Williams each had seven rebounds.
