Adams and Taylor come out big in victory

With every conference game important until the end of the season, the Cyclones needed to defeat Elgin Community College, but they also wanted revenge after having lost to the Spartans last month. The Cyclones won this latest matchup 86-69.

It was a slow start to this game, as neither team could let one drop for the first three minutes. Kobe Adams helped start the scoring to get his team ahead and continued leading the offense the entire way. However, the Spartans fought back to get within one. Anthony Taylor secured a layup before the halftime buzzer to keep his team up 35-32.

The score stayed relatively tight in the front part of the second half with the Spartans briefly taking a one-point lead before Adams scored to get ahead. The Cyclones went on a barrage of three-pointers and stopped Elgin from scoring for a few minutes, building a comfortable lead. The continued press and offensive consistency, including a three before the buzzer from Taylor, secured the big victory.

Adams was on fire with 36 points, including seven three-pointers. Taylor had a triple-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists plus four steals. Trace Williams finished with 11 points, five assists and five rebounds.
