Burd earns double-double in comeback victory

After a slow start, including an 11-point deficit at halftime, the Cyclones charged back for a 93-85 victory over Waubonsee Community College.

The Cyclones needed this win after a crushing defeat on Tuesday, and were able to pick themselves up and find their rhythm. For a few minutes, the Cyclones led the Chiefs before turnovers and missed shots intervened. They only banked 33 points to the Chiefs' 44 at halftime.

Within three minutes of the second half, the Cyclones cut the deficit to three. A few more consistent buckets by the Cyclones and several misses by the Chiefs saw the tides turn. Trace Williams finally tied the score at 59 with a free throw around the 10-minute mark, and the Cyclones moved ahead and stayed there after that. It was only in the last minute of the game where Waubonsee attempted to come back with a couple threes, getting within five, but committing enough fouls for the Cyclones to extend the lead on free throws.

Isiah Burd was back on top with 24 points, 12 rebounds and six assists. Kobe Adams finished with 18 points. Trace Williams and Anthony Taylor each had 17 points with nine and five assists, respectively. Taylor also led with five steals. Nathan Purcell rounded out the scoring with 10 points.
