A one-point loss to Morton College was painful to take, but still solidified the Cyclones' co-championship in the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference.
Finishing the regular season 24-6 overall and 11-3 in the Skyway, the Cyclones had to split the share with the on-fire Prairie State College Pioneers, which also lost tonight. This was a nail biter right to the end. The Panthers hit a three with 1.8 seconds left to go ahead. Moraine Valley battled back with a sunken three but was called out of bounds. Throughout this game, the Cyclones were slowed down on both ends of the floor and missed shots due to a physical Panther team. In their lowest scoring game of the year, the Cyclones lost 55-54.
Only two Cyclones were able to score in the double digits — Dontia Johnson (20 points, nine rebounds) and Trevon Jones (17 points, 10 rebounds).
"Sometimes the basketball gods give it and take it away. But we tied in conference and are co-champions. I'll take it," said first-year Head Coach John Chappetto.
