Comeback complete

Call it the comeback of the year, but these Cyclones have the will to win as they eked out a 71-70 victory over the No. 3 ranked South Suburban College Bulldogs thanks in part to sophomore Jalen Hughes.

This matchup was a real test for the No. 18 ranked Cyclones as they faced a physical, big and talented crew. But as Cyclone Head Coach John Chappetto has said repeatedly, his team has had the will to win all season long, even when it was questionable.

Although the Cyclones took an early lead, they faltered in the final minutes of the first half to trail the Bulldogs by 10. That deficit grew throughout the second half, but not for long. They were able to get even and trade leads. Within the last 16 seconds of the game and down by one, Hughes made the go-ahead bucket with three seconds left while the Cyclones put enough stops on the Bulldogs to hold on for the big win.

Dontia Johnson led the offense with 16 points while Hughes and Trevon Jones each had 15 points and seven rebounds. Zion Fortune added 11, and Ryan Saunders finished with 10.
