The Cyclones moved to 7-1 after a dominating 106-86 win over Saint Xavier University JV tonight.
This was their fifth consecutive victory that saw more hustle and contributions from guys off the bench. Taking an early lead as they have the last few games, the Cyclones built a 13-point spread by halftime. But that hefty lead was not secure. Saint Xavier made some runs in the second half to cut the Cyclones' lead to one with eight minutes to go. With that added pressure, Moraine Valley turned up the defense and saw timely baskets from Jalen Hughes (13 points, seven assists, five steals), Ryan Saunders (15 points, seven rebounds) and Dontia Johnson (21 points). Nathan Purcell also had key hustle plays during the run. Trevon Jones led the night in rebounds (10) while Da'Quan Dunn (13 points) and Zion Fortune (12 points, seven rebounds) also contributed.
