Lauren Lorenz joined the Cyclone staff as head coach for the volleyball team in 2016. Lorenz led the 2022 squad to an Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference and NJCAA Region IV championship along with a trip to the NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championship, where they finished 13th. In 2018, she coached her team to a region championship and trip to nationals, where they finished in 10th place. In 2023 and 2019, her team earned the conference championship. She has earned three conference and two region Coach of the Year awards.

Lorenz came to Moraine Valley with solid playing experience and coaching success. After helping her Lincoln-Way East High School team to a region title as a setter, Lorenz attended Southern New Hampshire University, where she led the squad in assists (773), setting a season record. She also played at Fort Hays State University and Elmhurst College.

She coaches the Ultimate Volleyball Club, which she has done since 2010, and led the club team to a silver medal at the 2016 AAU Junior National Championship.
