The Cyclones headed west this weekend for the Des Moines Area Community College Tournament and faced tough competition against nationally ranked teams.

First, they took on No. 12-ranked Illinois Central College. The first and third sets were close, but the Cyclones couldn't close in the loss: 24-26, 16-25, 22-25. Mary Zielinski led with 16 kills while Ava Pequette collected 19 assists and Brooklyn Condon amassed 24 digs.

Later that same day, the Cyclones faced off with No. 16-ranked Des Moines Area Community College. It was another close battle ending in a 3-0 defeat: 21-25, 19-25, 27-29. Condon led again with 17 digs, Pequette had 31 assists and 13 digs while Zielinski notched 23 kills. Lily Avelar also had 15 digs.

On the final day of competition, the Cyclones went head-to-head with No. 11-ranked Kirkwood Community College, taking the match to four sets: 12-25, 25-19, 21-25, 23-25. Sophia Davidson led this time with 15 digs while Condon, Avelar and Pequette each had 12. Zielinski collected 21 more kills and two blocks this match.
