Coming up just short

The Cyclones came up just short in their latest battle with McHenry County College. They lost 6-3 at home.

After a streak of solid wins, this hiccup was a rare occurrence for the dominant Cyclones. In the sets Moraine Valley did win, however, they were hard fought, especially at No. 2 doubles – Maya Morris and Allyson English.

"Maya and Ali both erupted with fire and passion in their match. That really was the defining moment of their doubles career so far. The energy was unbelievable from the two of them," said Head Coach Matt Marusarz.

Wins came from Izzy Slezakova at No. 1 singles in three sets, Allyson English at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles.

Even in this loss, Marusarz is confident his team will come back stronger and be even more successful.

"McHenry was good, but they won't know what's coming next time we see them at the regional tournament. I promise you," he said.
