Two in a row for Cyclones

Two in a row for Cyclones

The Cyclones earned their second straight in an 8-1 victory over College of DuPage.

Because the Chapparals were short a few players, the Cyclones earned automatic wins for a few spots. A few players moved positions as well to mix up the action. Otherwise, there were some tough matches by Olivia Preston, who played No. 2 singles, and won 6-2, 6-0. Nada Hinnawi, at No. 3, earned a bagel (6-0, 6-0). Amanda Hess took over at No. 1 singles and played one of the longest games all season, a nearly two and a half hour battle that ended in a loss (6-6 (9-11), 6-6 (7-9)). Hess then teamed up with Hannah Markiewicz at No. 1 doubles to bounce back for an 8-4 win. They only played an eight-set pro-set because of her lengthy singles match.

Amanda Hess (No. 1) — 6-6 (9-11), 6-6 (7-9)
Olivia Preston (No. 2) — 6-2, 6-0
Nada Hinnawi (No.3) — 6-0, 6-0
Hess/Hannah Markiewicz (No. 1) — 8-4
