Cyclones keep things close in battle with Chiefs

At the end of the day, the Cyclones knew they pushed hard in every match, kept things close and did not hang their heads at a 9-0 loss to the Waubonsee Community College Chiefs.

A few matches between the two rivals were as close as they could be, particularly at first and second singles and doubles. Julie Andrist lost 6-7 (5-7 in the tiebreaker), 4-6 and Madelyn Stepuszek fell 4-6, 3-6. Andrist/Trisha Meyers at first doubles lost 5-7, 4-6 while Stepuszek/Amanda Hess at second doubles fell 4-6, 3-6.

"The players kept their heads up saying although they lost, they felt pretty good about how they played. The score doesn't reflect how close some of the matches were. The ladies played well but just need to tweak a few things in order to capitalize on some key moments to put us in a better position. But they're right there," said Head Coach Mike Giordano.
