Undefeated at home

The Cyclones remain undefeated at home after an 82-72 victory over the visiting Morton College Panthers.

Although their 9-13 record doesn't reflect their talent, the Panthers were not an easy win. The Cyclones struggled to score for most of the first half while Morton sunk four 3-pointers and surged to a double-digit lead. Chelsea Cross kept her team afloat with three 3-pointers in the first quarter, however. Throughout the second quarter, the Cyclones were able to chip away and found their flow with less than two minutes in the half as they went on an 8-0 run. Kirsten Kamholz hit a three right before the buzzer to get her team within one.

Moraine Valley saw their first lead of the night in the third quarter, hitting free throws and making baskets when they needed, going 63-58 before the final quarter. The Cyclones finally saw a double-digit lead, which they held on to through the end.

Cross led with 21 points, including four 3-pointers. Kamholz added 18 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Natalia Trejo and Kaeli Ford each had 12 points while Nicole Poole scored 10 and had a game high 15 rebounds. Marty Reeves contributed 10 assists and 10 rebounds.
