Cyclones record 26th straight win

Cyclones record 26th straight win

When the No. 3 Cyclones faced another nationally ranked team, they did what they've done all season, played good ball and tacked on their 26th consecutive victory, tying the program record from 1984-85.

This Cyclone squad continues to dominate when facing tough opponents. Their latest win was over the visiting South Suburban College Bulldogs. Moraine Valley jumped out to an early 8-0 lead and held the advantage. Leading 23-11 after the first quarter, the Cyclones eased up on their pace but held the Bulldogs to just nine points in the second quarter and six points in the third.

After building a 28-point lead, the Cyclones entered foul trouble by Julia Ruzevich and Ashley Hunter in the last quarter. Hunter fouled out with five minutes on the clock and Ruzevich was out two minutes later. The Bulldogs clawed back within 13 points but wouldn't get closer thanks to an 11-point final effort from Hennessey Handy as her team won 72-55.

Hunter (seven rebounds) and Julia Ruzevich (14 rebounds, three assists, three steals) each led with 18 points. Playing with the flu, Handy mustered 17 points. Kate Ruzevich grabbed 15 rebounds to go with seven buckets.
