First win of 2019

First win of 2019

The No. 6-ranked Cyclones pulled out their first win of 2019 (63-42) to go 14-1, but it wasn't pretty.

Prairie State College is known for its defense and was able to hold the Cyclones to 63 points despite their ability to average 90.5 points per game this season. The Pioneers led 14-10 at the end of the first quarter. But that deficit was short-lived. The Cyclones' full-court pressure created a 22-7 second quarter surge, giving them an 11-point halftime lead. Moraine Valley held Prairie State to four points in the third quarter, which helped put the game away. Julia Ruzevich led with 18 points and six rebounds, but Hennessey Handy added 15 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists. Destiny Thames added nine points and seven boards.
