McClelland and Hansen on fire at the plate in losses to Kougars

The Cyclones had some close moments mixed with tough innings against Kishwaukee College. They lost both games in the doubleheader.

GAME 1
Moraine Valley had nearly the same amount of hits as the Kougars, but couldn't get any runners across the plate in the 9-0 loss.

The Kougars steady earned runs in four out of the five innings played and the Cyclones came close. Megan McClelland and Emma Hansen singled to start the at-bats and got to second and third before ground outs and a strikeout ended the inning. Then Moraine Valley loaded the bases in the bottom of the third from singles from McClelland and Hansen again before Mya Granados walked, but a strikeout foiled their attempts. The hitting duo had singles one more time in the fifth inning as well, but the other bats on the team were quiet this game.

GAME 2
The next game saw a rebirth of the offense as the Cyclones led for four innings and nearly made a comeback in the bottom of the seventh in their 8-7 loss.

Although the Kougars took a 2-0 lead after their first time at the plate, the Cyclones got four runs across the plate once they had a turn. McClelland (2-for-4) reached base on a fielding error before Hansen (1-for-3, RBI) drove her home on a triple. In that same at-bat, Hansen was able to score on a fielding error to tie the game 2-2. Granados (1-for-4) singled and Brialynn Mica (3-for-4) bunted to get on before Granados scored on a passed ball. Marissa Walsh (2 RBIs) was out on a sac fly, but was able to score Mica for the 4-2 lead.

Both teams were able to make quick outs for the next two innings before the Kougars tied the game in the fifth and took the lead in the sixth after some solid hits. Mica started the bottom of the sixth with a triple and scored in a ground out from Walsh. The Cyclones tied the game 7-7 in the next inning after a couple singles from Rachel Minnich (2-for-4) and McClelland before Jolene Anderson (1-for-4, 2 RBIs) scored them both with a screaming double. However, that was it for the inning and the game. A single, fielding error and walk led to the Kougars retaking the lead with the Cyclones unable to make any noise in their final at-bat.
