Once the Cyclones found their stride, they couldn't stop dominating Morton College. They swept the Panthers in a doubleheader, collecting 36 runs in the process.
GAME 1
Although the Panthers scored first, the Cyclones were quick to retake the lead by the third inning.
Down 3-0 going into the bottom of the second, Marissa Walsh (1-for-2, RBI) got on base after being hit by a pitch before Cassidy Ostema (2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBIs) hit a liner to centerfield to score her. Maya Conners (1-for-4) and Megan McClelland (2-for-5, 2B, 2 RBIs) each singled, with the latter earning the second run.
In the third, hits by Mya Granados (2-for-4, 4 RBIs) and Brialynn Mica (2-for-4, 2B) and Walsh being hit by a pitch loaded the bases. Then Riley Evoy (2 RBIs) was walked to score the tying run. Ostema came up and grounded into a fielder's choice that was able to score the go-ahead run. After that, the Cyclones dominated.
The Panthers mustered three more runs in the fifth, but nearly every Cyclone had a hit this game. They scored in every inning for the victory.
Ostema was on the mound for this win, striking out four without any walks.
GAME 2
The Cyclones collected 19 hits, including a 10-run inning, for the 24-8 throttling of the Panthers.
Every Cyclone had an RBI this game with Emma Hansen, Jolene Anderson (4-for-6, 3 runs) and Granados (2-for-3, 4 runs) earning three each. Hansen went 5-for-5 with a two-run triple in the sixth inning.
Ruby Amigon (2 RBIs) was the starting pitcher, striking out one and walking one for the win.
