Cyclones fall just short

In a short Arrowhead and Skyway conference series, the Cyclones faced Sandburg College and lost a close one 10-8.

There was a lot of back and forth in this matchup, where Moraine Valley nearly always countered the Chargers' scoring. Although Sandburg scored first and again in the third, the Cyclones got on the board with one that inning after Emma Hansen doubled before Jolene Anderson (2-for-3, RBI) doubled her across the plate. The Chargers scored three the next inning followed by two from Moraine Valley. Mya Granados (2-for-4) and Brialynn Mica (3-for-4, RBI) each singled before Riley Evoy (1-for-3, 3 RBIs) doubled to right field to score two.

Both teams scored three runs in the fifth. After Hansen and Anderson were walked, Granados lined out, but a fielding error on the play scored a run. Then Mica hit a long ball to right for an RBI triple. Two more walks and a wild pitch gave the Cyclones their third run. Each team scored two more runs in the seventh after Granados and Mica each doubled, Marissa Walsh walked and Evoy hit into a fielder's choice that scored one. Ruby Amigon grounded out in her at-bat but scored Mica. However, that wasn't enough to give the Cyclones the advantage.
