Granados hits homerun in season opener

In their season opener, the Cyclones battled with the Joliet Junior College Wolves, falling just short in the seventh inning.

The Cyclones put up a good effort in their first official game of the season. After going down 1-0 by the top of the third inning, Moraine Valley went on a hitting barrage to get ahead 3-1. However, the Wolves tied it in the bottom of the inning. The Cyclones retook the lead in the sixth with three runs but was quickly answered in the bottom of the inning to tie the game 6-6. Moraine Valley went scoreless in the seventh inning, but the Wolves ran two more across the plate to deal an 8-6 loss to the Cyclones.

Freshmen Jolene Anderson (2-for-4) and Marissa Walsh (2-for-3) opened their college careers with doubles while sophomore Mya Granados (1-for-3) had her first homerun of the season.
