Cyclones come up short in playoff run

The Cyclones' run in the playoffs ended after their doubleheader with Madison College. They lost the first game and made a comeback in the second to nearly force a third.

The NJCAA District B Tournament quarterfinal best of three series started with a slow moving offense for Moraine Valley (#6) and more action from the WolfPack (#3). Emily Manso was able to muster a double in the first inning followed by a single from Nicole Wagner. Manso had another hit in the third inning, but that was it for the offense. The Wolfpack had 11 hits in the game, dealing Moraine Valley an 8-0 loss.

It wasn't until their final at-bats in the next game that Moraine Valley attempted a comeback but fell just short in the 4-3 loss. Madison scored twice in the first and third innings on singles and doubles. Otherwise, the Cyclones held them at the plate, forcing them into ground and fly outs. Moraine Valley had more hits this game starting in the second inning with a single from Alexandria Palumbo (2-for-3) and double from Maggie Evoy (1-for-2). They made some ground in the seventh after Palumbo singled followed by two walks to load the bases. Mya Granados (1-for-3) capitalized on that with a single to drive home two runs. Kaitlyn Dunagan was walked, and Riley Evoy (1-for-3) drove her home on a double to left field. However, after a new pitcher entered the circle, it ended the rally and the game.
