Cyclones fall to Cavaliers

In their last home game series of the regular season, the Cyclones dropped the doubleheader to an always tough Kankakee Community College team.

Moraine Valley scored first in the first game on an RBI single from Nicole Wagner (1-for-3) and fielder's choice play. The Cavaliers got on the board in the second inning and took a 3-2 lead that they didn't relinquish. The Cyclones were able to add two more runs in the bottom of the sixth when Alexandria Palumbo (1-for-3) and Riley Evoy (1-for-3) hit RBI singles, but it wasn't enough for the consistent offense of the Cavaliers, as Moraine Valley lost 8-4.

The next game was a hitting field day for the Cavaliers as they collected 16 hits to the Cyclones' six. Moraine Valley took a brief 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first after two outs when Palumbo (1-for-4) doubled on a line drive to centerfield to drive home two runs. However, Kankakee tied it in the next inning. Moraine Valley tacked on another run in the third when Emily Madrigal (1-for-4) drove in a run on a single, and two runs in the sixth after Mya Granados (1-for-3) singled in a run and then a Maggie Evoy ground out scored the other run. The Cavaliers pulled away, however, giving Moraine Valley the 13-5 loss.
