Win streak ends against Bulldogs

After a streak of wins, the Cyclones were halted by South Suburban College.

In the first game, the Cyclones stayed close to the Bulldogs, but lost the high-scoring affair 18-12. Moraine Valley took a brief 11-10 lead in the fifth inning after the Bulldogs scored seven in the second inning. Arianna Andersen (2-for-4, 2B) doubled and scored on a fielding error before Nicole Wagner (3-for-5) and Emily Manso (3-for-5, 4 RBIs, two 2B) scored on another error. Riley Evoy (1-for-3) then hit a sac fly to get within reach of the Bulldogs, down 7-5. The Cyclones added one more in the fourth when Emily Madrigal (1-for-5) crushed an RBI single. But the next inning saw two homeruns from the Bulldogs to pull away. Moraine Valley battled back again in the fifth after two outs. Kaitlyn Dunagan (1-for-3) singled, Maya Conners reached on an error and Manso rocked a two-run double. Wagner then hit a hard grounder causing an error and two runs to score. Madrigal also reached on an error and Wagner was able to score, getting the Cyclones up 11-10. However, the next at-bat for the Bulldogs saw another homerun and some hits to put the Cyclones at a 13-11 deficit. Moraine Valley added one more run in the top of the seventh off a run-scoring double from Manso, but it wasn't enough.

The Cyclone bats were quiet in the second game and only one batter got on from a walk in the 14-0 loss. The first two innings were scoreless and then the Bulldogs had consecutive hits along with some Cyclone errors for a 13-run third inning. Cassidy Ostema, Ruby Amigon and Madrigal battled on the mound, but couldn't contain the Bulldogs. Ostema had one strikeout.
