Cyclones sweep Lancers

The Cyclones dominated College of Lake County, sweeping the Lancers 10-5 and 12-4.

For the first four innings, the Lancers held a slim 4-3 lead before the Cyclones saw some consistent hitting in the next three innings. Moraine Valley got on the board in the bottom of the third thanks to a two-run double from Nicole Wagner (2-for-4), who later stole home for the final run that inning. Maggie Evoy (2-for-3) singled the next inning and scored on wild pitch to tie things at four. The fifth and sixth innings saw the Cyclones collect three runs in each. First, Alexandria Palumbo (2-for-4) hit a two-run triple before Mya Granados (2-for-3) drove her in on a single to right. Later, Emily Madrigal (1-for-3) doubled in a run before Granados hit her own two-run double. The Lancers added one more run in the seventh, but the Cyclones had a secure lead for the win.

The next game saw the Cyclones jump to an immediate lead from their first at-bats and never let it go. Arianna Andersen started things off with a walk and then stole second. Emily Manso hit a long drive to centerfield for an out but not before Andersen tagged and scored. Wagner (4-for-4) singled and Madrigal (2-for-3) drove her home. Palumbo (2-for-3) then doubled home another run and Granados (1-for-2) got her across the plate on a single to make it 4-0. The next inning, Palumbo doubled in two runs and Granados drove a run in on a sac fly. Moraine Valley went up 10-0 in the fourth inning after Evoy (1-for-3) drove in two runs on a hard single to center before Kaitlyn Dunagan (3-for-3) singled in another run. The Lancers finally got on the board in the next inning, but the Cyclones tacked on their final two runs after that thanks to a two-run double from Madrigal. Moraine Valley had 13 hits this game.
