Cyclones score 29 runs in sweep of Owls

The Cyclones broke a six-game losing streak with two high-scoring wins over Oakton Community College.

The first game saw a little back and forth between the teams with the Cyclones taking a 4-2 lead in the second before the Owls went ahead 5-4 in the third. It wasn't until the fifth inning where the Owls scored four and the Cyclones collected six runs to get ahead 10-9. Nicole Wagner started the inning with a single followed by one from Alexandria Palumbo (2-for-4) and Emily Madrigal (2-for-3), who drove in Wagner. Mya Granados then singled in Madrigal. Riley Evoy (2-for-4) lined a single, and Maggie Evoy hit one to centerfield to score Madrigal. Mayas Conners hit a pop fly and reached on an error from the right fielder, also scoring Riley Evoy. Arianna Andersen (2-for-4) got her team ahead that inning with a two-run triple to center field. The Owls tied things at 10 in the sixth inning on an infield error from the Cyclones to score a run. However, the Cyclones took back the lead later that inning after Granadas was walked with the bases loaded, earning the 11-10 victory. Cassidy Ostema led from the mound, allowing three earned runs and striking out five.

It only took three innings for the Cyclones to tally enough runs to end this game in their favor, 18-1. The Owls scored their lone run in the second inning. Andersen tripled again in this game, tallying 5 RBIs and going 2-for-2. Granadas (1-for-2) and Riley Evoy (2-for-3) each collected 3 RBIs and a double. Palumbo went 1-for-1 at the plate with a double and 2 RBIs. Emily Manso (2-for-2), Madrigal (1-for-1) and Kaitlyn Dunagan (2-for-3) each earned an RBI. Ruby Amigon took the mound for the Cyclones, allowing just one run.
