Cyclones face off with Bulldogs

The Cyclones had a tough doubleheader in their home opener against South Suburban College. Although they attempted a comeback in the first game, they ultimately dropped both to the Bulldogs.

In the first game, it was only the first three innings where the Bulldogs grabbed all their runs. In the bottom of the third, the Cyclones were finally able to get two runners on with walks before Emily Manso hit an RBI double. Arianna Andersen and Nicole Wagner also hit RBI singles to see a 7-3 score. The Cyclones were able to hold off the Bulldogs' offense the rest of the game but only added one more run in the sixth inning on an RBI single from Riley Evoy. They had an opportunity to add more runs that same inning with the bases loaded, but were unable to capitalize and were dealt the 7-4 loss.

There was hope in the second game when the Cyclones scored first off an RBI single from Emily Madrigal. But that was the lone run for Moraine Valley while the Bulldogs tallied runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings. Andersen, Wagner, Manso and Alexandria Palumbo each had hits in the game, but it wasn't enough in the 9-1 loss.
