Cyclones learn from spring break training

The Cyclones were able to get some work in during spring break in South Carolina at the Fast Pitch Dreams Spring Classic, March 15 to 18.

Between some canceled games, the Cyclones went 2 -4 overall against unfamiliar teams they don't see during the regular season – Herkimer College, Community College of Rhode Island, Delaware Technical Community College, Southeastern Community College, Genesee Community College and Monroe Community College.

Over the first few days, Moraine Valley struggled at the plate but eventually grabbed the two wins on the final day of action against Genesee and Monroe.

"It was a rough start for us, but we're still working on communication. They got it together the last two games when the bats came alive, and we played our game," said Head Coach Ari Bulthuis. "I'm hoping this continues into the season."

The pitchers put in a lot of work and ultimately got their bearings. Riley Evoy hit her second homerun of the season while Nicole Wagner went 11-for-17 at the plate overall.
