Cyclones stay atop Skyway standings

In a must need Skyway Conference win, the Cyclones were able to sweep McHenry County College and maintain a 9-0 conference record.

Prior to this meeting, both teams were undefeated in the conference with McHenry close behind in second place. Two losses by the Cyclones would have tied their standings.

GAME 1
The bats were back in action in this 18-hit affair. However, it wasn't until the last two innings when the Cyclones scored all their runs. The Scots scored in the first off a solo homerun then added five more runs in the third inning while holding the Cyclones from scoring. It wasn't until the sixth inning when they put three on the board and three more in the seventh before Arianna Andersen (3-for-5) singled in the go-ahead run for the 7-6 victory.

Abigail Koran pitched the winner, allowing six runs on eight hits and striking out eight. She added to her own cause, going 4-for-4 at the plate with an RBI. Emily Koprowski (2-for-3, 2B, 3 RBIs) and Emily Madrigal (3-for-4, 2 RBIs) also had big days at the plate.

GAME 2
Both teams battled for the lead in this outing with the Cyclones going ahead 2-0 after two innings before the Scots scored three in the top of the third to which the Cyclones tied. After five innings, the score was knotted at five. In the bottom of the sixth, Danielle Travis (1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBIs) doubled in the go-ahead run and the Cyclones scored two more after that while holding the Scots off at the plate for the 8-5 victory and sweep.

Abbie Wantroba (2-for-4, 2B, 2 RBIs), Alexandria Palumbo (3-for-4, 2 2B, 3 RBIs) and Andersen (2-for-3, RBI) made big contributions on offense. Ashley Roberts toed the rubber, allowing five runs on eight hits and striking out five.
