Travis and Dvorak, walk-off heroes

Travis and Dvorak, walk-off heroes

Danielle Travis and Brianna Dvorak each took turns as heroes with walk-off winning hits in the sweep of Joliet Junior College. The Cyclones won 6-5 and 3-2.

GAME 1
The last time these two teams met, they split the difference, but Moraine Valley had other ideas today. The Wolves took the two-run lead in the first inning, but the Cyclones answered with one run. In the third, the Cyclone offense had some fuel with three RBIs from Travis (4-for-5, 2 RBIs), Abbie Wantroba (2-for-4, 3B, RBI) and Emily Madrigal (2-for-4, RBI). The Wolves answered again with three more runs of their own in the fifth to lead 5-4, but in the bottom of the inning, Emily Koprowski (1-for-3, RBI) singled in a run to tie things up. Still tied at five in the bottom of the seventh, Travis singled on the first pitch to score the game winner. Ashley Roberts earned the victory, allowing six hits and five runs.

GAME 2
The second game was equally as exciting for the Cyclones. Moraine Valley scored first off a two-run single from Wantroba (2-for-3, 2 RBIs). But by the fifth inning, the Wolved knotted the score with a homerun. Tied at two in the bottom of the seventh, Dvorak (2-for-3, RBI) rocked a two-run double off the first pitch for the 3-2 victory. Abigail Koran earned the win, allowing seven hits and two runs but striking out seven.
