Missed opportunities hurt Cyclones

The Cyclones fell short as they suffered a tough 2-0 loss to conference rival Waubonsee Community College.

The Cyclones have a number of injured players at this point in the season but battled hard with the Chiefs. About six minutes into the game, the Chiefs sailed one in the top right corner to get on the board first. After a quick turnover, the Chiefs lobbed another one over the keeper's head a minute later. Then the Cyclones got a lucky break when the Chiefs earned a red card in the box. Moraine Valley earned a penalty kick but it went wide of the net. With one more player on the field, the Cyclones pressed for the rest of the half but were unable to score.

Six minutes into the second half, the Cyclones earned their own red card and leveled the playing field again. They made several more shot attempts, but came up short. The Chiefs had a breakaway in the final minutes of the game, but the Cyclone defense knocked the ball away.

Cyclone keeper, Eduardo Sanchez, was busy in the net. He had six saves on the day. The Cyclone offense had nine shots to the Chiefs' 14 and 11 corner kicks.
