Thrilling season capped by co-conference championship

This year's men's soccer team was talented and strong. Although they didn't get as far in the playoffs as they wanted, they were still able to boast one of the program's best records along with a co-conference championship.

All throughout the season, the Cyclones put their opponents to task, evidenced by eight shutouts and three overtimes, including their final match, the NJCAA Region IV quarterfinals with Prairie State College. They didn't lose their first game until Oct. 9, finishing with an overall 17-2 record and 6-1 Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference record. Because each team earned one loss against the other, the Cyclones split the conference championship with Waubonsee Community College and Morton College.

High winds and an off day for the Cyclones became an untimely mix during the quarterfinals. Expecting to go further, Moraine Valley lost 3-2 in a tight overtime match to end the season.

A few players received honors for their performance this season. Daniel Kasaggoma and Daniel Rohder were named to the All-Conference first team while Gustavo Flores and Tomasz Kulak got on the All-Conference second team. Flores, Kasaggoma and Rohder also received nods to the All-Region team.
