Cyclones hit the links in opening outing

Cyclones golf opened their season today at the Highland 36 Invitational. After 36 holes, Moraine Valley finished in 12th place and one shot ahead of their conference rival.

Competition was fierce, but the weather was ideal for this first outing. Anytime the Cyclones can beat their Skyway rival and last year's conference champ, College of Lake County, it's a good day.

In the first 18, sophomore Dan Davila led the way with a 79 followed by freshmen Kyle Kuchel (83), Joey O'Brien (84), Ryan Flynders (91) and sophomore Ben King (92). The second round saw a turnaround for King, who shot a team low 77. O'Brien and Kuchel were consistent, each getting 85. Davila and Flynders each shot an 88 to end the tournament.

The Cyclones start conference competition on Aug. 30 at Elgin Community College's course.
