Hoh homeruns in loss to Chaparrals

In a one-off with College of DuPage, the Cyclones were thwarted by runs in the final innings to fall 10-7.

Heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, the Cyclones were down 5-6. The Chaparrals scored four runs and Moraine Valley tallied two more in the close loss.

Neither team scored until the third inning when the Cyclones got a 3-2 lead. Niko Mastoras (2-for-5) was hit by a pitch to start the inning before Dimitri Spatharakis (1-for-3, 2B) walked. Ethan Lopez (1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBIs) doubled on a line drive to centerfield, scoring both runners. Arnoldo Velazquez then walked before Emmet Barry (2-for-5, 2 RBIs) knocked in another run on a hard grounder.

Jack Hoh (2-for-4, 2B, HR, 2 RBIs) came up in the top of the fourth to hit a two-run homerun after Mastoras singled to get the Cyclones up 5-2. The Chaparrals tacked on eight more runs before Moraine Valley added two more runs in the top of the ninth. Velazquez and Christian Cardenas were consecutively hit by a pitch before Barry singled to load the bases. Ayden Lasson (1-for-5, 2 RBIs) hit a ground ball that caused a fielding error along with two runs to score. But it was not enough for the Cyclones.

Xavier Aguilar started on the bump, striking out five and allowing three earned runs.
