Splitsville for Cyclones

The Cyclones split their doubleheader with Kishwaukee College, winning the first game 12-5 and falling 7-1 in the second.

The Kougars got on the board first, but the Cyclones answered with two runs thanks to a double from Dimitri Spatharakis (3-for-3, 4 RBIs) and error on a ground ball hit by Jayden Armstrong. Jack Hoh (4-for-4, RBI) singled in another run in the second inning before Spatharakis knocked in two more runs in the fourth to go up 5-1. The Kougars fought back, however, tying the game 5-5 in the top of the sixth. Then the Cyclones had a big inning of their own. With two runners on, Spatharakis, Ethan Lopez (1-for-2) and Austin Zernia (1-for-4, RBI) each singled in one. Christian Cardenas (1-for-4) hit a ground ball and got to first on an error, scoring Lopez. Christian Rosales (2-for-4) reached base on another fielding error, which scored three more runs to give the Cyclones the 12-5 edge and victory after they held the Kougars scoreless in the seventh inning. Xavier Aguilar started on the bump for the Cyclones, striking out seven and allowing one earned run. Nomar Areizaga earned the win after one inning of work.

The second game saw the offensive fire go out as the Cyclones mustered just four hits and scored their lone run in the fifth inning. Daymian Arroyo and Augustus White were walked before Kevin Golinski grounded into a fielder's choice to, which saw Arroyo out at third. Ayden Lasson (2-for-3) hit a hard grounder to advance the runners. White ultimately scored the lone run. Carlos Guzman and Esteban Velazquez each took turns on the mound, striking out five each. Guzman took the loss.
