Hoh hits grand slam in win over Lancers

In a one-off with College of Lake County in their final home game of the regular season, the Cyclones dominated with a 13-8 victory.

Moraine Valley got off to a good start with three runs in the first inning. Maxwell Hensler (2-for-4) and Gilberto Hernandez (2-for-4, 3 RBIs) each doubled in runs, and Arnoldo Velazquez (2-for-4) hit a sac fly to score the final run.

The Lancers surged ahead with a four-run third inning, but the Cyclones bounced back with seven runs in their next at-bat to go up 10-4. Yashion Boswell (2-for-5) hit an RBI single to load the bases and tie the score 4-4. With two outs, Jack Hoh (2-for-5, 4 RBIs) came up next and on the second pitch crushed a grand slam to go ahead 8-4. The Cyclones loaded the bases again before Hernandez hit a two-run single.

Although the Lancers scored four more runs, the Cyclones were able to hold the lead and tack on three more runs. A fielder's choice and two-run double from Danzel Lucas (2-for-3) added insurance in this win. Gus Velazquez threw from the rubber and earned the win, allowing five hits and striking out four.
