Cyclones take one from Lancers

Cyclones take one from Lancers

The Cyclones split with College of Lake County, breaking a losing streak.

This was a game the Cyclones needed. They got on the board first in the first inning after Gilberto Hernandez doubled in Yashion Boswell (1-for-3) and Ben Cash grounded out but scored Maxwell Hensler (2-for-3). They added one more in the fifth when Christian Cardenas singled in Hensler. It wasn't until the bottom of the fifth when the Lancers added their only two runs in part due to some walks and an error; however, the Cyclones held them after that. After Jake Cummins and Boswell were hit by pitches in the sixth, Hensler singled in the final run for the 4-2 victory. Daniel Rosado was the winning pitcher in a complete game, striking out 13 batters.

The second game was an offensive barrage by both teams with the Cyclones losing 15-12. There was just one rough inning in the sixth, where the Lancers scored nine runs to the Cyclones' four that sealed the deal. Moraine Valley tallied their other runs in the first and third innings, holding an 8-6 lead. Hoh had a big game with 4 RBIs and a two-run triple in the third inning. Peter Mitchell scored two runs in the top of the first on a two-run lined double to centerfield. Hensler, Danzel Lucas, William Miller and Arnoldo Velazquez each earned RBIs. Cash was the starting pitcher, allowing four earned runs and striking out eight.
